I was commissioned by Tate to create an artwork for their Queer and Now festival in June 2023. I created a multi-sensory artwork rooted in the myth of Daphne in Ovid's Metamorphosis.

This artwork responded to themes of queer ecologies and the potential for human flesh to transform to become plant matter. It encouraged conversations about what queerness means in the face of the climate crisis today by taking anachronistic inspiration from an ancient mythic story.

I created a sound and scentscape to accompany the work to disrupt the gallery environment and engage the senses. Using foraged sounds I had mixed together the audience was taken on an auditory journey. Smell the most potent sense for memory was engaged via carefully crafted smell cards that encouraged the audience members to breathe in the smell of the forest to transport them to another place and time locked in their mind.
